Christian Swenson

Christian Swenson is a Seattle-based performing artist and teacher, who pioneered "Human Jazz", a unique fusion of singing, acting and dancing. He has been performing creations for the body and voice for the past 40 years, mostly solo, and also with Seattle greats like Degenerate Art Ensemble and Lucia Neare's Theatrical Wonders, as well as with his mentor Bill Evans.

Christian is leading contact improv, was a founding member of the improvisational ensemble “Molten Vocals”, and has been teaching children and adults for many years.

I met Christian in the late 1990's in Seattle, and have been studying, playing and performing with him ever since. The interview and his signature "Jabberwocky" piece were filmed in Spring 2019 in Berlin.
