Larry Pogreba
Larry is a guitar builder and a knife maker. He lives half the year off the grid in Montana, and the other half in a small town called Truth or Consequences in New Mexico. His custom-made guitars are played by the likes of Bonnie Raitt, David Lindley, Jackson Browne and Emmy Lou Harris. Larry also used to make his own steel in the Japanese tradition, and he once built a cannon that shot a bowling ball.
I met Larry in ToC in March 2019, after I had marveled at his artfully decorated fence. He showed me around his shop, the steel forge, and the natural hot spring running under his property. In true style, he wrote his email address on a piece of metal with a sharpie .
